
Abhyangam
Abhyangam a form of Ayurvedic oil massage treatment that involves massage of the body with dosha-specific warm herb infused oils or medicated oil. The oil is usually pre-mixed with herbs for specific conditions. Trained masseurs are required to perform this therapy when it is used for disease management. Massages in Abhayangam can be effectively done with two therapist working on either side of the patient. The Abhyangam massage therapy is very beneficial and definitely it works in the body and prevents degeneration and ceases the aging process.

Sirodhara
Shirodhara is a form of Ayurveda therapy that involves gently pouring liquids over the forehead and can be one of the steps involved in Panchakarma. The name comes from the Sanskrit words shiro (head) and dhara (flow). The liquids used in shirodhara depend on what is being treated, but can include oil, milk, buttermilk, coconut water, or even plain water.
Shirodhara has been used to treat a variety of conditions including eye diseases, sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, greying of hair, neurological disorders, memory loss, insomnia, hearing impairment, tinnitus, vertigo, Ménière's disease and certain types of skin diseases like psoriasis. It is also used non-medicinally at spas for its relaxing properties. Ayurvedic Shirodhara is a safe option to improve sleep quality among people who have sleep problems. Shirodhara is also effective in treating mental conditions such as anxiety, and mental stress. The calming effect produced by Shirodhara is similar to that obtained with meditation.

Pizhichil
Pizhichil literally means squeezing. It is the squeezing of warm medicated oil onto the body of the patient from a piece of cloth that is periodically soaked in a vessel containing the oil. The oil used for Pizhichil is kept in two vessels, on each side of the patient seated on the Droni with legs outstretched. Pizhichil is beneficial for aliments like Hemiplegia, and other paralyses.

Njavarakizhi

Choornaswedam
The whole body is made to sweat by massaging vigorously with herbal powder (choornam). Choornaswedam is effective for ailments due to Vata and Kapha disorders as it produces a therapeutic sweat, which relieves neurological disorders, rheumatism and arthritis. In this treatment, the whole body is made to sweat by massaging vigorously with herbal powder (choornam) tied into tiny bundles in muslin cloth.Horsegram,blackgram,sesame seeds and other curative ingredients are powdered and tied up in the bundles.As moderate heat is required to Mukhalepanam the body sweat,the Kizhis have to be warmed up by heating them in pan smeared with castor or neem oil. The sweat washes away toxic body wastes and unnecessary body fluids. In this treatment the two masseurs foment, standing on either side of the droni, an attendant supplies them with warmed Kizhis and warms up the used ones.

Patrapotli Swedam
Patrapotli Swedam is a kind of sudation therapy using herbal leaves. Leaves of Arka, Karanja, Dhantura grated coconut, mustard and rock salt are used. The proportion of the ingrediants varies according to the symptoms of the disease. The proportion of the ingredients varies according to the symptoms of the disease. Patrapotli Swedam is done for rheumatic pains and associated swelling of the joints, fomentation and massage with ilakkizhi is done for brief relief.

Kadikizhi
In Kadikizhi specially made warm kadi (Rice washed water with other herbs) is poured over the whole body. It is effective for almost for all kinds of muscular pains as it is analgesic in nature. Treatment is 60 minutes per day. The name of dhara treatment varies with the kind of material used for the dhara.

Kadi Vasty
This is not just a therapy but a treatment for your spine. Therapy starts with the application of warm herbal poultice after anointing oil. Luke warm oil is allowed to stay on the low back/upper back or neck for 30 minutes in a dam made with dough.

Prishta Vasthy
Prishta means complete back region. Prishta Vasti is a procedure where medicated oil is retained over back region for a specific period of time. It is mainly indicated for the diseases related to whole spine.
PROCEDURE
The patient is made to lie on the massage table. The dough which is prepared by using wheat flour or black gram is placed over the whole vertebral column. Lukewarm medicated oil is poured into it and is made to stay for some time. When the oil gets cooled, it is squeezed out using a cotton swab and warm medicated oil is again poured into it. This step is repeated for about 5-6 times. The procedure lasts for about half an hour. After the treatment is over, the oil is removed along with the dough and gentle abhyanga or massage with the same oil is done over the vertebral column for the better absorption of the oil. The patient is advised to take rest for a while.

Greeva Vashty
Greeva Vasti is a Sanskrit term where greeva stands for neck and vasti means to hold something. Greeva Vasti is essentially the holding of herbal oils on the spine, starting from the neck.
Greeva Vasti helps in alleviating: Cervical spondylosis. Whiplash. Sprains and strains. Tension headaches. Migraines with aura. Wry neck (Torticollis) Rheumatoid arthritis. Ankylosing spondylitis.

Udwartanam
Udwarthanam is a unique and very stimulating exfoliating therapy that uses specially prepared herbal powder. This powder is rubbed all over the body to slough off dead skin cells and help reduce subcutaneous fat. Udwarthanam Ayurvedic therapy is quite popular among Ayurvedic beauty therapeutic packages.

Mukhalepanam
Mukhalepam is a simple Ayurvedic skin care therapy which includes applying freshly prepared facial creams and massaging them onto the face. Mukham in Malayalam means face and lepa, lepana or lepanam means application of a paste. The exotic herbal pack contains different herbs made into a paste.

Sarvang ksheerdhara
Sarvang Ksheeradhara is ideal for calming the mind and moisturizing the skin. In this therapy, medicated milk, infused with special herbs such as cleansing turmeric powder and fragrant sandalwood powder, is continuously poured all over the body. The gentle bathing is followed by a relaxing massage. It is very helpful for excess Pitta. It also tones the skin and endows it with a healthy glow.

Kadidhara
A special medicinal preparation is poured continuously on to the whole body or part thereof. This is a member of the class of ayurveda treatments called Dharas.
Specially made warm kadi (Rice washed water with other herbs) is poured over the whole body. It is effective for almost for all kinds of muscular pains as it is analgesic in nature. Treatment is 60 minutes per day.
The name of dhara treatment varies with the kind of material used for the dhara. Like:
Oil – Sneha dhara, Taila Dhara Butter milk – Takra Dhara Milk – Ksheeradhara

Ksheerdhara
Dhara with medicated milk is called Ksheerdhara.Decoctions of various herbs are added to the milk. Ksheeradhara may either for head alone - Shirodhara or for whole body except the head - Sarvangadhara. A Sarvanga Ksheeradhara is usually prescribed for diseases caused by disorders of the Pitta.
At least three attendants are needed for this treatment. The treatment is conducted while the patient goes through the standard seven positions.

Takradhara
Takradhara is a sudation therapy with medicated butter milk in Ayurveda. It can be done either as Shirodhara (pouring the decoction over the head) or the dhara over the entire body. This treatment is effective in insomnia, chronic headaches like migraine, ear-nose diseases, neuropathy and spondylitis.

Sirolepam
Sirolepam. Sirolepam is a special treatment in traditional ayurveda for hair care. In this exclusive, relaxing and effective therapy, prescribed oil is first massaged into the head. When the mind and scalp are relaxed, an herbal paste is applied to the hair and scalp.

Sirovasty
Shirovasti. Shirovasti or therapeutic enema on head is one of the major external oil therapies in Ayurvedic treatment. The prescribed medicated oil is then warmed, poured into the cap and allowed to stand for a specified time.

Tharpanam
In ayurveda tharpanam or tharpan means retention of medicines over the eyes for up to 30 minutes or more a day as treatment for eye problems such as strain to the eyes, irritation etc. Tharpanam ayurvedic therapy is said to improve eye sight, strengthen the optic nerve and prevent different eye diseases.

Shiroabhyangam
Abhyanga is a gentle massage on the forehead, head, neck, and shoulders so the oil formulation on these parts of the body take effect. Hence, Shiro Abhyanga is an Ayurvedic massage therapy that works in two different processes following one another consecutively.

Thalam
Thalam. Medicated, ayurvedic oils are applied on the top of the head and allowed to remain for 20 minutes. This treatment soothes the ear, nose and throat passages as well as combats mental tension and headaches.

Akshi Sekam
Akshi Sekam. During this therapeutic treatment, a continuous stream of medicated decoctions is applied on the eyes for a soothing, rejuvenating experience. It is highly curative and can assuage the pain of overstressed eyes.

Karna Pooran
The ayurvedic method of imparting cured oils or illuminated spread (ghee) in the ears is called Karna Purana. there are little bones in the inward ear called ossicles, which vibrate when hit by sound waves. These bones invigorate nerve endings that transmit signs to the cerebrum to be translated. From the Ayurvedic point of view, the ear skin and the ossicles can dry out and capacity can be traded off because of Vata irregularity in Ayurveda. Vata, when irritated, can dry the body out. Oil is the remedy for dryness in the body.

Nasyam
The therapeutic of herbal oils, decoctions and powders through the nostrils is called Nasya. Nasya can prove to be an effective remedy for congestion, allergies, sinusitis, headaches, migraine, rhinitis and other nasal infections. This therapy will cleanse, purify and strengthen the nasal passages allowing to breathe fully and easily again. The therapy is used not merely as a nasal decongestant also to cure many serious ailments like loss of consciousness, stupor, insomnia, hysteria, hemiplegia and facial paralysis.

Upanaham
What is Upanaham Therapy in Ayurveda? Upanaham therapy is a treatment for the joints of the body to relieve stiffness, pain, swelling, and fractures through localized perspiration. It is accomplished using a paste of herbal oils and powders, medicated leaves, and a cotton bandage.

Padabhyangam
Ayurveda is an indispensable way of living that uses methodically crafted therapies to ensure smooth bodily function and restored wellness. Ayurveda stresses on life-long healing through therapies and procedures. The “mother” of all therapies is known as “Padabhyangam”.

Ardhangam
Ardhang abhyangam means half body oil massage. Duration is 30 minutes. This is done by one ayurvedic therapist strokes are given according to disease. This treatment is good for general relaxation and rejuvenation as well as some ailments like arthritis, tendon stretch etc.

Pichu
Pichu is a palliative Treatment for ailments of the whole body. During this treatment, a long, thick layer of cotton wool soaked with warm medicated oil is applied over the affected area. The oil is replaced periodically to keep it warm and therapeutic.

Janu Vasty
Janu vasti is a part of panchakarma in Ayurveda treatment. The term ‘janu’ referse to knee joint. It is the procedure where by the medicated oil is retained in the knee joint for a particular duration. . The completely sealed wall boundary is made with the paste of black gram powder or wheat powder in the janu (knee joint) region. The medicated oil is heated till it becomes lukewarm. This lukewarm medicated oil is then poured in to the space inside the walled boundary in a constant and continuous stream. It is retained there for a particular period of time. The medicated oil is soaked up, heated to become lukewarm and poured back again by adding fresh oil in it. This repeated during the whole procedure.

Leech theraphy
Leech therapy or Raktamokshana Jaluka Charana is a kind of blood purification therapy, where leeches are used to suck the impure blood from the infected part of the body. Leech therapy is an advanced form of treatment in Ayurveda.

Agni karma
Agni has been considered superior among the Anushastras for possessing fast action and permanent cure. It has been attributed the quality of curing the diseases which cannot be cured by other therapeutic measures such as surgery treatment with Kshara and medicinal management.Agni Karma was observed to be effective in treating superficial hyperkeratosis over the elbows, knuckles, lateral aspect of ankle, foot and hands. Besides this, the therapy did not left scar or disfigured the skin and produced cosmetically good results. Agni Karma also helps in controlling the bleeding. There would be less pain as the nerve fibers are destroyed by Agni Karma. Chances of infection are also less as Agni Karma itself is a sterile procedure.

Vaman
Vamana Karma is one of the five Pradhana Karmas of Panchakarma which is successfully used in treating Kaphaj disorders. Its a process of drug-induced vomiting to expel mainly the vitiated Kapha from the body. Purvakarma procedures like oleation and sweating are essential for this therapy too. Oleation, internal as well as external, liquefies the Aman or toxins trapped deep in the tissues. After three to seven days of oleation, the skin of the patient become shiny and oil appears even in the urine and faeces. This is considered as good indication of Samyagyoga.

Virechan
Virechana is one of the Panchakarma therapies wherein purgation is induced by drugs and it specifically aims at the elimination of excessive Pitta Dosha from the body.
Madhu Tailik Vasty
Madhutailika Basti mainly contains Madhu and Taila, so it is called Madhutailika Basti. Madutailika Basti is the special kind of Basti which are having the property to support life and promote longevity. Madhutailika basti are the treatment option for male sexual dysfunction. Madhutailika basti can be termed as a therapeutic modification of Basti as it contains equal quantity of Madhu (honey) and Taila (sesame oil) and these are considered as the main ingredients of Basti.
Matra Vasty
In Allopathy science, mainly analgesics, anti inflammatory drugs or surgery are the options for the treatment of osteoarthritis. ... Indigenous compound drug containing Guggulu, Shallaki, Yastimadhu, Pippali, Guduchi, Nirgundi, Kupilu and Godanti was given in one group along with Matra Vasti.
Kashaya Vasty
Kashaya Vasty helps in removal of gas that causes pain and also in removing toxins for purpose of body de-toxification. Kashaya Vasti is used to treat constipation, neurological ailments, paralysis, flatulence, lower backache, gout and rheumatism. Kashaya Vasti is used in management of Pain Management, De-toxification, Gastric Problems, Paralysis.
Vaitaran vashty
Vaitarana Vasti is such a kind of Vasti which has a unique formulation and specific indications. The etymology of Vaitarani in Vaitarani Mahatmya, where it is defined as Vai (truly) tarini (saving) which implies that the timely administration of this Vasti restores the health of the person from the hell of rogas. Vaitarana Vasti is practiced now a day’s extensively with excellent results in diseases like Amavata, Katisoola, Gridhrasi, Klaibya, Vishamajwara etc.

Swarna Prashana
Swarna Prashana (also known as Swarna Bindu Prashana or Suvarnaprashana) is an Ayurvedic procedure involving the oral administration of Swarna Bhasma (gold ash) mixed with honey and ghee (often fortified with Brahmi, Shankupushpi, Vacha, etc.) to children, intended to potentiate the immunity and psychological and physical development for children from birth up to the age of sixteen years. “By (the use of) Swarna Prashana the child develops medha (mental ability), agni (digestive power), bala, aayu vardhana; it (Swarna Prashana) is also mangalakara, punya, vrushya, varnya, ghuha baadha nashaka. If Swarna Prashana is done for one month then child will be parama medhavi, remains unaffected by vyadhi. If done for six months then child will be shruta dhara (he will remember what he hears)” Swarna Prashana is said to be not only beneficial for normally-developing children, but to possess enhanced benefits for children with special needs such as autism, learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, hyperactivity disorders, and development delays.

Ksheer vashty
Basti is said to be a preventive, promotive and curative therapeutic intervention, is considered as Ardhachikitsa as well as Poornachikitsa among all therapies by different Acharyas. Ksheera Basti is a Mrudu Niruha Basti. ... Ksheera Basti nourishes the Asthi Dhatu and there by pacifies its Ashrayee Vata Dosha.
